Prospective Members
Oak Park Temple B’nai Abraham Zion is a welcoming, reform Jewish congregation with a rich history. Founded in 1865 on the West Side of Chicago, the congregation moved to its current Oak Park location in 1956, with a major building expansion in 2000. We are committed to creating a warm and inclusive community, centered around worship, family, and lifelong learning. Advocacy for Israel and a broad range of social justice issues are hallmarks.
OPT offers the intimacy of a small synagogue with the strength and vitality of more than 500 families. Our temple is home to a vibrant collective of people – young and old, newcomers and longtime members, Jews and Jews-by-choice, interfaith and LGBTQ+ families – united by a desire to build community through Judaism.
Together, OPT is our place to prepare our kids for adulthood, greet friends on Sunday mornings, practice yoga, jam out at Tot Shabbat, help our neighbors, and lay a strong foundation for future generations.
Our ability to remain a vibrant community depends on the generosity of our members. OPT’s community commitment is an integral part of how we strive to be a welcoming and inclusive congregation. Everyone is welcome to join the Oak Park Temple community regardless of their financial means.
We invite you to join us for services or to speak with a member of clergy or our Temple Administrator to learn more about how to make OPT your Jewish home.
