Join us on Monday, January 13th at 7:30pm as we discuss Our Nazi by Michael Soffer.
Reinhold Kulle seemed like the perfect school employee. But in 1982, as his retirement neared, his long-concealed secret came to light. The chief custodian at OPRF High School had been a Nazi, a member of the SS, and a guard at a brutal slave labor camp during World War II. Drawing on archival research and insider interviews, prior OPRF teacher Michael Soffer digs into his community’s tumultuous response to the Kulle affair. He explores the uncomfortable truths of how and why onetime Nazis found allies in American communities after their gruesome pasts were uncovered.
We will be meeting in person at the temple, with a ZOOM option. Limited copies are available at the Oak Park Public Library, please call in advance to make sure they are in.
THIS WILL ALSO BE OUR ANNUAL HANNUKAH BOOK EXCHANGE EVENT - Please come with a wrapped book to share with someone else!
ANYONE AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME… you don't have to be a woman, just need a desire to talk about great Jewish books! For more information contact Sheila Pont at swpont@gmail.com
